Hello and welcome to my little blog. I’m Cyndi and created this blog as a place to make myself accountable to my intentions of having the wardrobe of my dreams. That is going to mean mostly vintage patterns and vintage inspired styles. Mostly I want to encourage myself through inspirational photos and the reading/sharing of my blog heroes to start doing some nice things for myself again.
I have been sewing clothes since my mother taught me how to sew at about 7 or 8 years old. I’ve been told I’m quite good! I’ve done formals, bridal wear, costuming for all sorts of periods even corsets and lots of dresses, blouses and skirts. However, a few odd years ago my life took an unexpected turn and I stopped sewing for myself. While over the years I have continued to sew for others, I just wasn’t inspired to sew for myself.
A positive attitude and a cheerful face is what I hope to keep each day and frankly – my closet is giving me a frowny face. So I’ll be blogging about my sewing adventures as I build my dream wardrobe but I’ll also share bits as I learn to knit better, start work on lingerie pieces and occasionally bits about my life or just what is traveling through my brain. I have so many topics of interest that I’ll be sharing stuff I find interesting sometimes too.
I have quite a colorful background that has allowed me to peek into a variety of careers and interesting views of the world. I have a broad variety of interests, some of which stem from or led to careers. They include sewing, knitting, writing, reading, dancing, singing, theater, Celtic quilting, languages, cooking, preserving, visual journaling, book making, jewelry making and gardening. I’m an Anglophile and a Gallophile. I also have a deep curiosity about how my own Puerto Rican ancestry connects with France and Scotland because I’m bone deep certain that they do!
I have been blessed with three positively brilliant boys and a wonderful husband. I sometimes wondered why God had me waiting so long for a good husband but he has been worth the wait in every respect that matters to me. As a family we are challenged daily by food allergies and health concerns but I try really hard not to let it get me down.
